This is the story of a 12-year-old, imprisoned for 6 years. When he steps out, the world is nothing as he imagined. He has a friend his age, Arna, who helps him learn his way around again. He has to discover his family's past, while learning to live in this big world again.I found this to be a very well paced story, full of excitement. Every time I thought the excitement reached its peak and was now calming down, it got a little bit better. The challenges that Lord Maslyn and Arna must work through are difficult for adults, much less a couple of kids. I was thrilled by the intrigue and mystery surrounding the characters.
This is a very entertaining book if you like mystery, intrigue, and a little magic. While this book stands very well on its own, I picked up the next book in this series because I enjoyed this one so much. Many thanks to the author for writing such an good book.

Good fantasy novels come a dime a dozen, and frankly, many just don't make the cut. This, however, is not the case with L.M. Sherwin's Night Bells. It is a brilliantly crafted story that draws the reader into another universe, wholly new, but not dissimilar to our own. With characters that have a unique and refreshing depth of personality, I found myself left with a subtle and satisfying sense of sadness when I ran out of pages. I am looking forward to enjoying many more tales from Niflheim.
It was a little slow - repeating to much. I would recomend Night Bells to younger readers. Over all it was a good book.

Highly recommend this book! The story is fascinating, and the characters are original and very interesting. This is a great read for anybody who hasn't quite found the perfect story to fill the void left by the completion of Harry Potter.
Can't wait to see more from L.M. Sherwin. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
I follow L.M. Sherwin on twitter and decided to pick up her book. Night Bells is a fantasy young adult novel so the book is on par with my normal reading habits. The novel is a coming of age story about Lord Maslyn, a 12 year old boy who has been imprisoned in his own castle for 6 years. The pacing of the novel was good and the story was intriguing. (A talking pig!) My only complaint is I wish the story was darker; however, Night Bells is the first in the series, so maybe the themes become darker later in the series. Night Bells is another example of a great indie book!
I completely enjoyed reading Night Bells! It was a thrilling adventure unlike any that I had ever read before. It was captivatingly told and I got to know the well developed characters to the point of you could tell how they would react to the upcoming situation that they faced. I would recommend this book to anyone, and I would be confident they would be enthralled by Night Bells.
The adventures of Soryn are steeped in mystery and sadness. As the lone survivor of his family he has been kept a prisoner in the castle for six years. He was only six when his parents and brothers died in the fire. He doesn't remember much of that night. Travel with him as he and his friend unravel his past so that he may have a future. You will have a remarkable journey with him. The book has twists, turns and surprises galore. Will leave you looking forward to the rest of his story.
